I drove up from Seattle listening to a mixture of Collide and Crystal Method, which proved to be excellent driving music. The early evening sun cast an ethereal golden light across the pine trees, which were faintly blued by haze hanging in the warm and humid air. I drove with the roof rolled back and the windows down, enjoying the feeling of wind in my hair and the scent of spring.
The first place I went to when I hit Bellingham was the Interurban Trail, because it was such a beautiful night. I called Selena on my cellphone and talked to her for an hour and a half as I walked through the forest, to the wall where I used to picnic with
gothkittyn and talk philosophy with Gahan. I wanted very much to share that place with her, as I love it dearly.
And we talked of our histories, and love, and secrets, and openness. She told me things she had feared to tell me, and I only loved her more for them.
Then my cellphone's battery ran out (as I had been talking to Selena for quite a long time the night before, as well), and after calling my beloved back to say good night (with a simultaneous "I love you" that made me swoon a bit), it was off to the Manor with me.
I drank suprisingly little. I saw a lot of people I hadn't seen in a while, and had missed. I got bitten on the neck and called a damned Tremere. I danced a lot. It was really quite a grand evening.
By 3:30 AM I was quite tired and ready to collapse, so I gave Bev a ride home and crashed on the couch, being occasionally walked on by cats, wishing Selena was there...
