The show last night... it had odd effects on me.

The opening band, Computorgirl, was way better than I expected. Kind of reminded me of Delerium before they started sucking merged with Collide. I seriously dug it.

Beborn Beton rocked the house. They're one of my favorite bands normally -- how could I not love synthpop with a sci-fi/X-files twist? -- and they were just as good live. They had good stage presence and were very tight musically.

Apoptygma Berzerk... I don't know. I haven't really gotten very much into their music in the past. They clearly had lots of energy, but I didn't feel any of it. Other people obviously did, but I just stood there, feeling it crashing off me. I just couldn't feel a damned thing, because my head was suddenly full of the imagine of Selena in her bare feet and long skirt and cheshire-cat top, standing in the grass while her 1st Sergeant told her and the rest of her group off after the room inspection. That image of her looking so natural and beautiful, contrasted with the Army people and installations in the background, is sort of symbolic to me of her difficulties with being in the military. (And apparently she was having quite a bit of difficulty with it last night.)

So I left the show, and dropped in on a friend for a bit, before going home and calling Selena, since she'd just posted to livejournal and sounded... upset. We talked sleepily for a while, and then I passed out.

And the best part is that NASA is likely to commit to a manned mission within twenty years as a result of this.

I might actually live to see it after all.
