May. 28th, 2004 11:15 amYes, it's true! And there is considerable mention of the Merchants of Deva as well.
See, every year Mr. Sterling throws a big party at his house. Lately it's been getting a bit hard to manage. So in a speech at Microsoft last week he appealed to the geek community for potential solutions to the problem of managing a large party.
I've a lot of experience with parties, and I've got a few theories of my own. So I wrote him and discussed my experiences with the Merchants of Deva, and how the best way to get free help with parties is to model yourself on an Open Source project. Mr. Sterling apparently found my suggestions interesting, as he wrote back almost immediately and asked if he could blog what I wrote. And of course I said "sure!"
So here it is.
