One of my coworkers just randomly wandered into my cube, gave me a brief lecture on a native religion in Brazil and its use of MAO inhibitors and DMT-laden plants to produce religious visions, showed me a few pictures that one of the natives had painted of the visions he'd had, and wandered out again.

I love my job. :)

something's missing. weird empty longing for something or someone. strange and sad and at odds with the brilliance of the day.

Ever since 1994, I have wanted a Sun Microsystems SPARCStation 10.

Back then, a single SPARC10 served mail, news and web content for my entire college.

Now, you can get them for $100 on Ebay.

They look kinda like you imagine a cyberspace deck to look like. Flat and square with a single green LED set in the corner.

(WWU's main server, Titan, is a Sun Microsystems UltraSPARC Enterprise 4000 server. Phear it. They used to do everything with DECstations, which were painfully, achingly slow and badly overloaded. But DECs were cool too, back then.)
