peculiar dreams

I had the oddest dream last night. In my dream, I was lying in my bed, trying to fall asleep. (Yay recursion, eh?) Every detail was realistic, even down to the fact that I'd left the window open when I went to sleep. I could feel these continous waves of peace and sleepy contentment washing over me -- more than I had ever felt, impossibly strong -- and I relax, verging on falling asleep in the dream...

...Then someone (J. Random Dream-Person) storms in and bitches me out for using a relaxation spell too much, because overuse will rot your brain, and I wake up, upset and discomfited. What the heck?

In other news, I actually got eight hours of sleep last night, and thus am feeling far more functional than I have all week.

(no subject)

Note to self: sleep more.

I'm getting so much done today.

expanding on a theme; also, plans

Sleep really does seem to have been the issue that's been dragging me down all week. It appears that I really and truly do need a full 8 hours a night in order to be productive, at least right now, still recovering from pneumonia and Con and so on.

As for tonight, I plan on going over to Aurafice for pre-Mercury coffee after work, followed by something dinner-ish, followed by, well, the Merc.

best slashdot poll EVER

Ordinarily, I think the polls over on Slashdot.org are really dorky and dumb. But I loved this one:

Slashdot Poll
What to do with a captured spammer?

  • Break their fingers
  • Neutering
  • Subduction
  • Just give me one, for 10 minutes
  • Go all Vlad the Impaler outside Above.net as a warning to other spammers
  • Time to test the arc welder
  • Surprise Tracheotomy
  • Fashion their bones into record needles for CowboyNeal

I particularly liked the "Go all Vlad the Impaler outside Above.net" option; apparently, everyone else did too, as it was the most popular option by 8%...

...In other news, I'm at Aurafice right now, and there's this pair of oldsters talking in the corner about political bullshit in some obscure organization, which is really getting on my nerves, because they're doing it quite loudly, and talking over the lovely music they're playing in here. Rrrgh. That's what the other room is for, damn it!
