Despite the heroic efforts of [livejournal.com profile] icebluenothing, and the assistance-beyond-the-call-of-duty of Dan, Kate, Riff and Alan, it took until 3 AM last night to get me moved into the new apartment.Six and I were far past the point of exhaustion when we quit. I slept until well into the afternoon, got myself some leftover takeout in the fridge, talked to Allyson, and then slept some more.

I'm really awake this time. The pain in my legs, arms and back has faded to a manageable level... and now I'm here.

I'm leaning up against my bed and writing this on my laptop, having finally nabbed a DHCP lease from an unsecured wireless access point -- I bless some unknown neighbor's stupidity... or, just possibly, benevolence.

(Anyway, it's just until my DSL is set up.)

I remember, in the version of Tomorrowland at Disney World, they have -- or used to have -- a ride that would culminate in a view of a spectacular model of a city at night, with skyscrapers that were graceful thousand-story pinnacles, attended by the glowing multicolored lights of airships and jet aircraft. They glowed and pulsed in the artificial night, ghostly and grey and impossibly distant.

It was one of the most beautiful things I had ever seen.

Right now, looking out my window, watching the bright sparks of aircraft on approach, and the lights of the highrises all around me, the view resembles that ghostly Disney fantasy.

This is why I came here.

After all the napping, I set up my old stereo in my bedroom and put on some Crystal Method.

I want to go out.

Time for a shower, and changing, and then I'll see about walking up to the club.

Be well, my friends.
