Why are these Seattle firefighters sad?

Because one of them locked the keys in this emergency response vehicle while responding to a call at Broadway and John.

While on my way to the bank, I overheard the guy with the fanciest helmet (complete with boom mike) saying "How the fuck did we get locked out?" as he peered in the window.

Sorry about the blurry picture quality, but I'm a bit shaky with fever and wanted to snap'n'scoot before I got accused of being a terrorist.

Hahahahahahahhaa. Thus the reason that police officers *always* keep a spare vehicle key in one of their belt pouches...

He was so confused because they NEVER lock their rigs. It was probably some rookie.

About a week ago I saw a firetruck on Boylston, just South of Denny, which had gotten -- no shit -- a flat tire. There was a Seattle Motor Pool patrol pickup there and its crew had put the firetruck up on two enormous jacks. I would say that the firemen were, on the balance, more bemused than enraged.
