It's morning in Jerusalem, where we spent the night after touring the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, walking the Via Dolorosa, touring Yod VaShem and waiting for slow and errant American and Russian tourists to catch up with the group. We're now going to visit the ancient Roman fort of Masada, and take a swim in the Dead Sea before returning to Tel Aviv. (Which I'm looking forward to, as it's cold up here -- Jerusalem is about 2500 feet above sea level -- and we left our coats with Allyson's father in Tel Aviv).

It's been an interesting trip so far. I've seen a lot of cool old stuff. I know I promised I'd upload some pictures, but I managed to forget to bring the sync cable for the camera, so I'm afraid it'll have to wait till we get back.

Here's what we have planned for the rest of the trip:

Tomorrow: might go up to Haifa.

Thursday: Fly to Eilat, bus out to Petra, fly back to Tel Aviv that night.

Friday: Might return to Jerusalem for the day before catching our return flight to the US late that night.

Saturday evening: Stumble exhaustedly in the door of our condo, hug squirming cat, pass out.

Mom was out in Eliat, and went to Petra this last summer. She regrets not exploring the caves more. If you take a camel anywhere or arrange transportation, set a solid price first, they'll try & weasel more out of you.

If you get a chance while in Eliat, I hear the snorkeling is awesome.

Looking forward to stories & photos!

We were going to go diving in Eilat for two days, but instead we spent them sitting in airports waiting to get to Israel.

Read that. That sucks. I hope you get money, but I think you'll be glad you didn't give up entirely. Snorkeling only takes an hour or so, and all the pretty fish are in shallow water, anyway. :)

ACHINGLY jealous. I've been wanting to go back for over 10 years now.

Do the stree vendors in the Old City still yell "three shekels, one dollar" while trying to sell the tourists postcards?
